WORN-OUT BARREL—Is there any tool made with which to cut the grooves deeper in a worn- out rifle barrel, to make it shoot good again?
I do not know of any such tool. It is the lands that are worn, not the grooves, and to cut the grooves deeper would enlarge the bore. The only remedy I know is to have the barrel rebored to use a larger cartridge, if it is a single shot, or in case it is a small bore using a bottle-necked cartridge. Otherwise you would have to get a new barrel, which, including the transportation ‘charges on the gun, and the fitting, will quite often cost as much as the gun is worth.
