Wolves-Largest in U.S.-Which are the largest wolves found in the United States? Where are they found and what bounty is paid on them? Where could the pups of the large wolves be obtained?
The largest wolves of the United States are the common gray wolves, found in almost every state west of the Mississippi River; also in Wisconsin and Michigan. The bounty varies, each state having its own bounty laws, and in some places there are additional bounties paid by the counties and the stockmen. I think you could get the young animals from trappers occasionally in the spring if you would advertise for them. If you are thinking of raising wolves for the bounty, don’t try it, as you will get into trouble.
