Using decoys to hunt crows is an excellent way to lure the birds within range, if you happen to live in an area with a large population. If you are fortunate enough o live in an area where crows number in the hundreds, even thousands, then setting out decoys is an excellent method for hunting them.
Why so many, simply because, once a crow responds to a call and a decoy set-up, you have got to take the crow, if you don’t and the bird escapes it will not forget its experience. In areas with relatively few crows and many hunters, the crows become call and decoy shy at a young age, when this happens it will take a perfect set up to bring them in, and even then, most will stay outside of gun range.
If you do have many crows in your area, the chances are good that at least some of the birds will have never responded to your or another hunters set up and will therefore come in within range.
