WHITE STEEL TRAPS—I would like to know what I can use to make steel traps white?
A Canadian fox trapper gives a method as follows: “I take a large kettle and fill it with water and put my traps in. I get the water boiling hot, then for every dozen of traps I add a half pint of lime (not air slacked), and boil ten minutes. The traps come out odorless, and white as snow.”
