WEASEL, TRAPS SPRUNG— I am trapping for weasels and set a bunch of traps around the bait When the weasel comes he springs nearly all of the traps and is not caught; how does he do it?
It is purely accidental as a weasel knows nothing about a trap, and cares less. It is probably caused by the animal standing across the jaws of the trap and the rising jaw throws it out. The trouble is that you give too much room. Lay up a few chunks and place a small bait in the enclosure, with the trap close In front of the bait. If your bait and traps are scattered in this way, you will stand far more chance.
