Weasel-Removing Tail Bone | |

Weasel-Removing Tail Bone-How can I remove the bone from the tail of a weasel without tearing the skin? Is there any way to remove the yellow stain from the fur? Should a skunk skin be stretched fur or pelt side out, and should the tail be split open?
The tail bone may be removed means of a split stick. I have skinned hundreds of these animals and removed the bone by stripping it out with my fingers, and cannot remember of ever tearing any. Do not leave the animal in too warm a place before skinning. I know of no way to remove the yellow stain, and furriers say it cannot be removed. I know that it will not yield to soap and warm water. All furs should be stretched flesh side out. It is not necessary to split the tail of a skunk, but they make a nicer skin if it is split about one-third of its length and stretched out flat. Open the tip of the tail.
