WATERPROOFING—What is a good way to waterproof cloth?
Take a chunk of paraffin and rub in on the cloth all over, not missing as much as an inch; spread it on quite heavy, and then iron it all over, being careful that none is missed. Water poured on this will slide off just like quicksilver from a hot stove. It waterproofs any kind of cloth, but stiffens it just a little, though not enough to be objectionable.
