VELOCITY OF MAUSER CARBINE | |

VELOCITY OF MAUSER CARBINE—What is the velocity of the 8 MM. Mauser carbine?
I believe 1902 feet per second. It depends on the powder behind the bullet. There seem to be several Mausers of about this caliber, with different velocities. The New Springfield, for instance is sonic- times called Mauser carbine. The Sauer Mauser throws a bullet of 150 grains at the rate of 2700 feet a second, one of 180 grains, 2509 feet a second. The 8 millimeter size uses several cartridges of different powers, just as there are several 32 caliber cartridges.
