The two cartridges have about equal velocities, that of the .30 being 2400 feet while that of the .35 is 2200 feet at the muzzle. The .35 is the larger caliber and as it gives a greater energy I think it is the best killer of the two. The .30 U.S. gives a penetration of eighteen boards seven-eighths inch think while the .35 penetrates only fifteen. Either is powerful enough for any game found in America.
