TRAPS FOR COON—Will the Victor No. 1 ˝ hold coon?

The No. 1 1/2 Victor trap will hold coons all right if the spring is very stiff and the jaws fit together closely, and will not come loose from the bed. I prefer the No. 1 1/2 Jump as they catch higher. You should use all good traps for you are likely to catch coons anywhere along water or deep ravines. Bait with fresh liver you will find this one of the best baits. The trap must set level and must be well covered. You are also likely to catch a mink. Scent with oil of anise or oil of rhodium; these are both very effective for coon, but I would not advise using scent for mink.
