TO REMOVE RAG FROM RIFLE—I would like to have someone tell me the best way to take out a rag stuck in a rifle.
The rag may be removed by burning it with a slender,, heated, iron rod. This will not injure the barrel if care is used so as not to damage the, rifling at the muzzle. If possible, it is best to work from the breech. If the barrel is dry, a few drops of oil may loosen the rag so that it may be drawn out by bending a short hook on the end of a stiff wire. You should not attempt to drive it out as that will only set it tighter.
