To Make a Horse Stand – How are western horses trained to stand when the bridle reins are thrown over their heads? Could an ordinary two-year-old horse be trained in this way?
I cannot say how western horses are trained. The reins are not thrown over the horse’s head. The western bridle rein is in two separate pieces, each about five feet long and they are simply dropped, one on each side. The horse stops as soon as the reins are dropped and stands still until they are picked up again.
