TELESCOPE SIGHT—In your premium catalogue I noticed that you have the Malcolm Rifle Telescope, number 4, twelve to eighteen inches in length, 3 to 5 power, no mountings. Now I would like to know if this telescope sight is good for hooting squirrels and what length is best? What would it cost to have it put on a model ‘06 Winchester? What is meant by “3 to 5 power”?
The sight is a very good one for hunting squirrels. For such use either length is all right, but for quick shooting the shorter lengths are usually chosen because they have a larger field of view. A three- power glass magnifies three diameters, a four-power, four diameters, etc. In other words, with a three power glass an object at 500 yards would appear to be only 100 yard away. For squirrel hunting I would choose one of three or four power. More powerful ones are not good for hunting, especially at short range, as one most change the focus of the high-power glass for various distances when shooting at short range. I do not know what it would cost to have it mounted as that would have to be done at the factory. Write to the Malcolm Rifle Telescope Co., Auburn, N. Y.
