Texas Fur Bearing Animals-What are the furbearing animals of Texas?
Texas is a very large state and topography varies greatly; as a consequence the furbearing animals are not the same all over the state. On the high plains country of the northern and western half of the state the principal furbearers are coyotes, which are plenty, badgers, and skunks, also civet cats in some parts, and in the mountains, ring-tailed cats and wildcats. In the lowlands are coons, opossums, wildcats, mink, otters, and a few bears. Beavers are found here and there throughout the state, and while I am not sure, I think that gray foxes are found more or less plentifully in all parts of Texas.
