INDIAN TAN—How is the leather tanned that the Sioux Indians use for moccasins?
I cannot say how the Sioux Indians do their tanning; each tribe has a somewhat different mode, though the method, in general, is much the same with all, namely the “Indian tan” with the brains of the animal from which the skin was taken. This method is described fully in “Camp and Trail Methods.”
