Tarpon (Tarpum, Jew-Fish, Silver King, Silver-Fish, Grand Ecaille, Savanilla, Grandykye, Giant Herring, etc.): Caught on a firm casting rod and special Tarpon tackle with mullet bait. Occurs in the Western Atlantic and in the Gulf of Mexico. Attains a length of six feet and a weight of 200 pounds. Is allied to the herring family, principally taken off Texas and Florida.
