Starting an Emergency Fire

Method 1

Take a piece of bamboo and spit it in half. After starting a notch rub across it with a sliver of bamboo. This forms a pile of dust that will come to smoke and a coal will form, add tinder to this coal and blow on it to create a fire.

Method 2

Knock the bullet out of a shell or cut the top off a shotgun round and dump out the shot, take out all the powder, placing it in a pile of tinder. Fire your rifle, pistol, or shotgun into the pile using just the primer of the round that you removed the powder from. It may help to place a few grains of the powder down the barrel.

Method 3

This is the best way to get a fire in the woods, providing that the sun is out. If you have sunlight a lens or a watch crystal filled with water will serve to concentrate enough of the suns rays to start a fire.
