The best dog I know of for the use mentioned is a cross of foxhound and shepherd. They are good trailers and bark well at tree, while the shepherd strain makes them good for stock. They are not as goof for stock as the full blooded good for stock as the full blooded shepherd, but it would be difficult to find a dog that is perfect for all purposes.
