Spanish Mackerel
Mackerel, Spanish: Caught on the surface of deep waters in the open ocean, like the Bonito, on Bluefish bait and tackle. Weighs up to nine pounds. Occurs in the Atlantic from Cape Cod to the Gulf of Mexico. Also abounds along the Pacific coast of Mexico and the Gulf of California. Off the coast of New York and Southern New England is most numerous in July and August. In the Gulf States it is called King-Fish. It is one of the most valued food fishes.
