Smokeless Cartridges-Will the Winchester smokeless and greaseless cartridge injure the barrel of a model 1906 Winchester .22 caliber? Some say they will strain the barrel and advise the use of the Peters semi-smokeless. Which do you think are best
The smokeless cartridge will not strain the barrel, but the continued use of the short cartridges will sometimes affect the chamber in some way and cause the long shells, when used, to stick very tight after firing. It is possible that the .22 short black powder cartridges would have the same effect, but I cannot say for certain. However, I prefer the smokeless to the semi-smokeless.
