SKUNK SKINS, ODOR—Do the fur dealers pay as much for skunk skins with odor on them as without, and how do you deodorize them?
The odor makes no difference in their value. You can deodorize them with gasoline, but it is unnecessary. Another way is to hold the skunk before skinning, in a smoke made by burning evergreen boughs, but you are likely to damage the fur this way, as the heat, if it strikes hard, will curl the hair.
