SKUNK OIL—Please inform me whether skunk oil baa a commercial value, and if so, where it can be disposed of. I would also like to know what part of the animal it is procured from and how it is prepared for market.
This question baa been asked and answered frequently in the past. As far as I know the only way you can dispose of this and other animal oils is to sell it as grease at two or three cents per pound, and I am sure you would not care to bother with it at such a small price. That skunk oil contains medicinal properties, and is worth considerable is a popular supposition, but there is nothing to it. The oil is prepared from the fat of the animal, by frying it slowly and pouring off the oil, just like making lard.
