SKUNK ODOR—Can someone give a recipe for getting rid of skunk and other animal odor?
If you will give me a little space I will try to give the readers of the H-T-T a recipe for getting rid of the odor of the skunk, civet and mink, and I suppose it will work on a good many others. Take some fine dry ground of any kind, wash your hands in soap and water until you have a good lather, then take the fine dirt and rub in with the soap and water until It begins to get dry. Then wash off in clear water. For getting the smell out of your clothes, if you have a shed where you skin and keep your furs, build a little smudge out of anything that will burn and then put 10 or 15 drops of cinnamon oil (which you can get at a drug store) into an old pan or pail and place over the smudge. Hold your clothes in the smoke and this will give your clothes the scent of the cinnamon and remove that of the skunk. I have used this same oil for years and I think that you will find it O. K. after you try it, writes a South Dakota subscriber.
