Skunks-Their Bite-Is the bite of the northern skunk poisonous?
In case of a skunk bite, medical attention should be sought at once. The skunk bite is not “poison” in the sense that a rattlesnake bite is poison, but hydrophobia may result from such a bite, and so many victims are known to medical history as to compel strict care in all such cases. Handlers of live skunks should have antiseptic material to apply on scratches and wounds caused by skunks, as in the case of dog bites. The northern skunks are not so bad as the southern, I believe.
