Skunk-Best Bait for-What is the best bait for skunks and how can I make a good scent for them? I have read a formula in “Science of Trapping” but cannot procure the scent of the skunks that the formula requires.

I can hardly say any more regarding baits for skunk than I have said in “Science of Trapping”. Skunks will eat almost anything in the line of meat. They prefer to eat fresh meat but tainted meat has more odor and will attract them farther. Regarding scents, it seems to me that you should have no trouble catching at least one skunk in the first few days of the trapping season and then you can get the scent glands. I have heard that extract of valerian is good scent for skunks but have never used it and am not sure that it is good.
