Single vs. Double Action-Will you please tell me whether the single or double action revolver is, in your estimation, the best for all around use? The majority of people seem to prefer the double action revolver better for general work. Also, I would like to ask of the .38-55 caliber is not powerful enough for moose and black bear, and if it would under ordinary circumstances kill a grizzly? Is the .32 large enough for general use in a big game country and if not would the .38 be better?
I have always preferred the single action revolver and find that by far the larger number of Western mountain men use this style when they carry a belt gun. If you expect chance shots to use the arm on big game, the .32 caliber is too small. The .38-40 is good but my preference would be a .45. The .38-55 caliber rifle is all right for the animals mentioned if you use the high velocity cartridge. With black powder and lead bullet is cannot be depended on unless you put the bullet to just the right spot, which in ordinary hunting is often impossible.
