SIGHTS FOR MAUSER—I have an 11 Mauser rifle, model 71/84. Can I get a Sheard’s or other bead front sight for this rifle? Can I get a rear peep sight to be attached to the receiver or must I use a tang sight? The rear sight does not have a slot but folds on a small pin like a leaf sight.
There are many makes and models of Mauser rifle; some are obsolete, some modern military arms, others up to-date sporting rifles. Of the latter, the Sauer Mauser, made by J. P. Sauer & Son, are the most common in this country. The Sheard sight is made for these rifles, but as far as I know it is not made for any other Mauser. The Lyman Gun Sight Corporation, Middlefield, Conn., make a receiver sight for the Mauser rifle, but do not say what ones it can be attached to. I presume that they are for the Sauer Mausers, but am not sure. It is possible too that this sight can be attached to all modern Mausers, but I advise you to take this up with the firms making these sights.
