SHORT RANGE SHOOTING—Which do you think would be the most satisfactory for short range shooting in the .22 H. P. Savage—the.22 Long Rifle cartridge in the adapter, or the short range loads described recently? Which would be most likely to injure the barrel and which do you think would do the most harm—the short range or full charge cartridge?
I have not tried either so far, hut I think that the short range loads in the regular shell will be moat satisfactory, if you mean to use many, at least. I cannot see how they will injure the gun since the firing is of such a pitch that it will accommodate all kinds of loads.
Of course, you could not use very muds smokeless powder behind & solid lead bullet, but if you want to do mid-range shooting mostly, you could get the molds and reloading tools for the gas-check bullets.
If you don’t want to do much short range shooting it would no doubt be best to get the adapter and use the .22 long rifle cartridge, as it will be much less expense. I don’t know anything about this adapter, but I presume it is somewhat on the order of the Brayton Auxiliary Shell. I think that is the most satisfactory type.
