Short Breath-I have a dog about five years old. In the past few days he has been afflicted by getting his breath very short like he is panting but he has not his mouth open. It seems that he does not care to lie down. Will you please tell me what is wrong and what will cure him?
The description of the malady is insufficient for proper diagnosis. Various causes could bring on hard breathing. If dog is fat it may be the beginning of asthma, for which there is practically no cure. Possibly, however, mere constipation is the trouble and in that case a good dose of castor oil (two ounces) should give relief. Sometimes that sort of ailment arises from a bone getting lodged in the throat, which, when extracted or pushed down is the end of it.
