The Shooting Gallery
The only chance if you live in a community that is at all thickly settled is to shoot in a range. Nearly every city has one or more shooting galleries, as they are called, but to take an occasional three shots for a nickel won't help your marksmanship very much.
A better way is to make a deal with the owner of the gallery so that you can use your own rifle and ammunition and his range and targets, but even this is a poor makeshift and is never very satisfactory, and I would not advise this sort of an arrangement except as a last resort.
