SHOT FOR SHOOTING EAGLES—What would be the best size shot to use in a 12 gauge shotgun for shooting eagles measuring 5 and 6 feet from tip to tip? Would BB shot be all right up to 75 yards?
What is your object in shooting eagles—for market or to protect stock? No. 4 shot, aimed at the neck up to forty yards is more apt so kill instantly than larger sizes fired promiscuously. Try No, 4 in right barrel, (for first shot), and single B for long ranges. Personally, I should prefer a .22 caliber Winchester for this kind of work.
