Sheep Herding – In regard to the question on herding sheep, will say that the wages vary considerably in one state. From forty to fifty dollars for herders.

In Montana, Billings is headquarters for sheep-men. Other small towns in the state are good but Billings is the largest resident town of sheep owners. In Wyoming, Caster, Gillette, Lost Cabin and Cody are the chief centers for sheep-men. In Oregon, one wants to leave the railroad and get back; so I would go to Vale and from there to Burns. Herders are kept busy all the year around and most of the herders change in September and May, although some outfits are always wanting men.
