SHELLS (BURNING OFF)—What causes a shotgun shell to burn off at the brass cup of the shell when firing—is it in the shell or is it lack of skill in workmanship in boring the chamber when the gun was made?
I had this trouble with two different makes of semi-smokeless powder shells. It may be there is a bulge in the chamber; this may be due to an excessive charge, rather than poor workmanship. You would better have a skilled gunsmith look into this chamber, for the burning of the shells may be precursor to a bursting gun.
