34 INCH BARRELS vs. 28 INCH—In what way are 34-inch barrels superior to 28 or 30-inch lengths?
Thirty-four inch barrels are not superior in shooting qualities to twenty-eight or thirty inch, providing the gun is of 12 gauge or smaller. A larger bore should have proportionally longer barrels. As a rule the shorter barrels shoot higher because the line of sight is nearer the bore at the muzzle than at the breech where the walls of the barrels are thicker.
