When making a mock scrape, use a dripper that only drips when the temperature rises (there are several available). That way you get the local bucks used to a scrape that is active during the day and (hopefully!) get them interested in coming out in the daylight instead of just at night. And remember to angle the licking branch down toward the ground, not horizontal. About 40 to 50 inches off the ground should do it.
