Finding Wild Boar
Finding wild boar to hunt is easy, if they are in your area, the damage they leave behind will be easy to spot. Look for areas in which the boars have been rooting around, digging up the surface soil to get to the roots and grubs. Rooting areas will look like someone has poorly tilled the soil. Mark any spots with recent rooting on a topographic map.
When scouting your area also look for areas in which the hogs are wallowing in the mud. These areas will be visited regularly and generally are found on trails to and from feeding areas. Again, mark any wallowing holes on your topographic map.
Lastly, if you notice any very defined game trails while scouting mark these on you map also. These are great places to set up a tree stand, game trails generally are used on a regular basis and setting up an ambush is relatively easy.
After all your scouting is done, take a close look at your topo map and decide the best strategy for your hunting area. With a little work on your part, you can ensure a successful wild boar hunt.
