RUBBER BOOTS—I would like to know how to repair rubber boots that are cracked, to make them waterproof. What can I use on them to prevent the rubber from cracking?
While I am not certain, I believe that the boots could be successfully repaired by applying rubber cement to the cracks, New rubber, if good quality, will not crack, but there is no way to prevent them from getting old and old rubber will not wear well no matter what is applied. When not in use they should be kept in a dark place, and if laid away for some time they should be wrapped in brown paper.
