The Rock Bass
The rock bass is also known as goggle-eye and red eye It is found all through the northern and central states and farther south. It looks a little like a black bass but is broader, and is much smaller, seldom weighing more than a pound and usually only half as much. It shows a number of colors, dark olive-green and yellow predominating. The iris of the eye is red, and there is a black spot on the gill cover. Rows of small, dark spots run along the sides.
