RIFLE TELESCOPE- Is a telescope rife sight of any real value and will it bring the target much nearer?

For long range target work and for some kinds of hunting the telescope sight is a great help, especially for those with weak eyesight. These sights are made in different powers and magnify from two to twenty diameters. A two power telescope reduces the apparent distance one-half and a four power will show the object as large and distinct as it would appear to the naked eye at one-fourth the distance. In other words, if you are shooting at 100 yards with a four power telescope, the target will appear to be only twenty-five yards away. The low powers magnifying three or four diameters are best for hunting.
