RUST, REMOVING—I would like to know a good method to remove rust from steel traps and leave them in good condition for mink trapping. Would the method of making them white with lime as given some time ago in the H-T-T be good?
I would suggest that you clean it off with a file and sandpaper; then boil them in willow or maple bark and water, T do not think the method mentioned would remove the rust. Unless the traps are so badly rusted that they do not work well, the rust will do no harm.
