REMOVING RUST FROM GUN—What will take a bad coat of rust out of a shotgun quick and easy and not hurt the barrel?
Hot water — boiling — poured through the barrels, and wiped out repeatedly. Then coal oil, and scrubbed. Then the finest kind of emery dust rubbed through on a rag, but not too much. If the barrel is pitted, the barrels are hurt beyond repair. Rub and rub—that is the best you can do, unless you take it to a gunsmith and have him polish the barrel.
