REMOVE A DENT IN GUN—I have a single barrel shotgun which has a small dent in the barrel about six inches from the muzzle. The gun was a good shooter, formerly, but scatters badly now. Can the dent be removed by a gunsmith or should I cut off the end of the barrel?
It does not seem possible that a small dent that far back from the muzzle would cause the gun to scatter badly, but if the difference was discerned immediately after the accident to the gun it is undoubtedly caused by same. I think that any gunsmith could remove the dent easily and the cost should not be high. By no means cut off the muzzle as you would cut off all of the choked portion of the barrel and nothing would be gained.
