Reloaded Ammunition in 25 Caliber-I have purchased a .25 caliber Remington Autoloader and would like to know if I can use reloaded ammunition and short range cartridges with lead bullets and low pressure powder? How many grains of powder is in the full charged cartridge?
Yes, you can use midrange loads but not short range cartridges for they do not have power enough to work the action. The Ideal Manufacturing Co. make their Ideal No. 10 Special Took, with double adjustable chamber for this cartridge. It uses the patent gas check bullet, mould No. 257325, and the cartridges should be loaded with 17 grains of powder. This is really supposed to be a high velocity load but is not as long range as the full charged cartridge with metal jacketed bullet. The full charge factory load is 23 grains of L. & R. Powder. Low pressure powder and lead bullets without the gas check cannot be used and the lead bullet described above must be made of composition metal.
