RABBIT SKIN TANNING—Kindly tell me how to tan rabbit skins, if they are worth tanning.
Take a quart of oatmeal, a half-pound of powdered alum and the same amount of salt; mix and add soft water enough to make a thick paste. Stretch the skin on a board, flesh side up and apply the paste, spreading it on an inch thick. Let it remain three or four days, then remove it and gently work the skins between the hands until soft. They are very tender and must be handled carefully.
