RANGE OF .351 WINCHESTER—Will some brother hunter give me information on the .351 Winchester rifle as regards accuracy at long ranges? The barrel seems to be thin at the muzzle. Will this affect the velocity of the bullet and the strength of the barrel? How long is the rifle guaranteed?
I cannot say just what the accurate range of this rifle is- The thin barrel will not affect the shooting, and as for strength they are tested by the makers with a charge of powder and lead giving a pressure 50 percent greater than that developed by the cartridge they are made for. As I understand it, no firearms are guaranteed by any firm except that the Winchester people agree to replace barrels which burst because of imperfections. It is very seldom that one hears of a breech loading rifle bursting.
