Range and Penetration-I would like to have you inform me of the range and penetration of the .38 S and Wesson cartridge and the .32 Savage Automatic pistol. Which is best for a side arm, the Savage Automatic or a .38 Hopkins and Allen with a six inch barrel?
The accurate range of the Savage Automatic .32 caliber pistol is given at fifty yards and the penetration six to six and one-half inches of pine. No doubt one could do fairly good work at longer ranges than this. The penetration of the .38 Smith and Wesson black powder cartridge, fired from a Smith and Wesson revolver with a four inch barrel is four and one half seven eighths boards. Its accurate range would be about 100 yards. I have done very good work with the .38 Smith and Wesson at 100 yards and even longer distances. As to which is the best gun to use, you would have to decide that for yourself. Both have good point and neither its faultless.
