RATTLESNAKES—MOVEMENTS—Do snakes, especially the rattler and copperhead, travel at night and are they likely to come into the tent and get mixed up in one’s bed after you retire?
Snakes move around more or less night and day. In a snake country, if you sleep on the ground, they sometimes crawl into a tent. For many reasons, it in best not to sleep on the ground—a cot, hunk, hammock, sheet of canvas swung between two poles is better than ground skidding. However, the chances of a snake crawling into a bed in ordinary country is pretty remote.
