Preventing Blight on Ginseng | |
|
Blight-Preventing-We have a small patch of ginseng which did well the first few years but it has taken a blight the last two years. The blight comes on after the plants come up and the plants die before the seeds get ripe. What can we do to prevent this blight?
Probably there is something wrong with the shading, moisture and heat conditions to start with. Very likely, certain properties in the soil have become exhausted because of imperfect fertilization. The woods-loam mulching may not be put on in large enough quantities. The plants may be too crowded. No spraying will take the place of proper environment and conditions. Bordeaux mixture may be used with considerable success.
