Pointers as Night Dogs-I would like to know whether the pointer can be used for night hunting?

The pointer is a bird hunting dog and I have never heard of them hunting any other game. As I know of no method of hunting birds at night, I presume that you are thinking of furred game, such as raccoon, opossum and skunk. I do not believe that they could be trained to hunt such game.

I have one that is said to be the best in the country, writes a reader of H-T-T, for we have caught about 25 coons and from 65 to 75 pole cats and opossums with her, and I have a pup that has been hunting twice and caught one cat and two opossums with him, so I think that they are the best kind of hunters.
