OREGON, BEST TRAPPING SECTION—Which part of Oregon is best for a trapper who wishes to catch lynx, muskrats, mink, coyotes, lions, and bears? I am going to Oregon to trap next season, and would like to learn all I can about the trapping before I go.

Ordinarily I do not attempt to answer such questions, although I receive many of them. Judging by the catches of Oregon trappers the best part for most of the animals you mention is in the mountains of Jackson, Josephine, Curry, Lane and Douglas counties. I doubt whether you would find any muskrats there, and coyotes would not be as plenty as on the plains or the desert farther east.
